Israelites in Africa – Songhai Kingdom

A legend of Jews who came from Yemen,settled near the Niger River and established the Songhai kingdom, which was initially a Hebrew kingdom is mentioned in Tareekh As Sudaan.

In Tareekh As Sudaan page 4

”As for the first king , Za al Yaman, the origins of this term mean he came from Yemen. It is said that he and his brother left out of Yemen wayfaring in the land of Allah the most high until to the land of Kawkaa with which they were destined and it is very old in the coast of the sea in the land of Saghaa”
