RAISIN HEAD

Whenever people narrate the following narration we find that the words  Aswad (jet black) man in included in them when there is NO such word in the narrations. This is propagated in such a way to make people believe that the Arabs were other than black.  

Yes we know that the Abyssinians were black but why add the wording Aswad (jet black) to the narrations when they are not included in them?

Sahih Al Bukhari 693  and in Sahih Al Bukhari 7142, Sahih Al Bukhari 696 , Sunan Ibn Maajah book of Jihaad: Book 24 and hadith 2970 and 2860

On the authority of Anas bin Malik who said

Allah’s Messenger may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him said, “You must listen to and obey, your ruler even if he is an Ethiopian slave with a raisin head.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم  ” اسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا وَإِنِ اسْتُعْمِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ حَبَشِيٌّ كَأَنَّ رَأْسَهُ زَبِيبَةٌ “



Yet we find in Saheh Muslim,  a narration of a jet black man from the Ansar tribe with the Arabic word Aswad used in it who was NOT A SLAVE NOR WAS HE HABASHY BUT HE WAS AN ARAB and a leader.

I heard the Messenger of Allah may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon  him say: Whomsoever from you is appointed by us to a position of authority and he conceals from us an amount as small as needle or even smaller than that, it would be considered to be embezzlement and will produce it on the Day of Judgment. The narrator says: A (jet) black skinned man from the Ansar stood up it is as if i can see him right now and said: Messenger of Allah, take back from me your assignment. He said: What has happened to you? The man said: I have heard you say so and so. He said: I say that now: Whosoever from you is appointed by us to a position of authority, he should bring everything, big or small, and whatever he is given therefrom he should take, and he should restrain himself from taking that which is forbidden.

صحيح مسلم كتاب الامارة  حديث ١٧٣٣

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعُ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي، خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ الْكِنْدِيِّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُ ” مَنِ اسْتَعْمَلْنَاهُ مِنْكُمْ عَلَى عَمَلٍ فَكَتَمَنَا

مِخْيَطًا فَمَا فَوْقَهُ كَانَ غُلُولاً يَأْتِي بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ” . قَالَ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ أَسْوَدُ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اقْبَلْ عَنِّي عَمَلَكَ قَالَ ” وَمَا لَكَ ” . قَالَ سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ كَذَا وَكَذَا . قَالَ ” وَأَنَا أَقُولُهُ الآنَ مَنِ اسْتَعْمَلْنَاهُ مِنْكُمْ عَلَى عَمَلٍ فَلْيَجِئْ بِقَلِيلِهِ وَكَثِيرِهِ فَمَا أُوتِيَ مِنْهُ أَخَذَ وَمَا نُهِيَ عَنْهُ انْتَهَى ” .

The same narration is repeated in Musnad Ahmed which revealed that The (jet) black man from the Ansar was Sa’d Ibn Ubaadah the LEADER of the Ansar tribe. Authenticated by Sheikh Shuaib AlArnoot on the conditions of Saheeh Muslim.

‎حدثنا عبد الله حدثني أبي مرتين ثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن إسماعيل بن خالد قال حدثني قيس عن عدي بن عميرة الكندي قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم : يا أيها الناس من عمل منكم لنا على عمل فكتمنا منه مخيطا فما فوقه فهو غل يأتي به يوم القيامة قال فقام رجل من الأنصار أسود قال مجالد هو سعد بن عبادة كأني انظر إليه قال يا رسول الله أقبل عني عملك فقال وما ذاك قال سمعتك تقول كذا وكذا قال وأنا أقول ذلك الآن من استعملناه على عمل فليجئ بقليله وكثيره فما أوتي منه أخذه وما نهى عنه انتهى
